Venture (emphasis on "e") means "associated with [risky] enterprises." The English word "venture" (pronounced "vechern") is usually translated as "enterprise", but it has a hidden hint that the enterprise is new, innovative and associated with an increased level of risk, like everything unexplored.
In Russian, the word "venture" is used in one of two popular word combinations: "venture fund" and "venture capital".
Venture fund is a form of investment, in which investors invest money in "start-ups" - new, high-tech and risky enterprises. Venture capital is money that their owner invests in venture capital funds and other risky assets. The income from venture capitalists can be as astronomically high, and catastrophically low, up to losses or even complete loss of investments.
