"Shershe la lama" is a French expression that is literally translated into Russian as "look for a woman". The meaning of this phrase is that women and love relationships are often the causes of severe male troubles, duels and even wars, damn it! And in this there is no magic and witchcraft: if a man starts having problems, then the reason for them, of course, is in a woman!
The saying "Shershe la lama" became popular thanks to the replica of the hero of the novel by Alexander Dumas "The Mohicans of Paris", published in 1854. Today this winged phrase has firmly entered not only in Russian, but also in most European languages.
